Flood Warning until 10:00PM Friday

...The Flood Warning continues for the following rivers in West Virginia...Maryland... Potomac River at Shepherdstown affecting Jefferson, Berkeley and Washington Counties. For the Potomac River...including Shepherdstown, Point of Rocks, Edwards Ferry, Little Falls...Minor flooding is forecast.

* WHAT...Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.

* WHERE...Potomac River at Shepherdstown.

* WHEN...Until late tomorrow evening.

* IMPACTS...At 19.0 feet, Water covers the pedestrian bridge adjacent to the Shepherdstown boat ramp. Significant portions of the C&O Canal towpath are flooded.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 10:15 AM EDT Thursday the stage was 17.9 feet, or 2.9 feet above flood stage. - Bankfull stage is 0.0 feet. - Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending at 10:15 AM EDT Thursday was 17.9 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 18.2 feet this afternoon. It will then fall below flood stage tomorrow afternoon. - Flood stage is 15.0 feet. - Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of 18.2 feet on 05/19/1988. - Please visit www.weather.gov/safety/flood for flood safety and preparedness information
