Meet Hoboken public safety officials; Free Narcan training available; Register for NJ MVC mobile appointments

Join the Public Safety conversation

The City of Hoboken and The Hoboken Public Safety Department will host the next CAPS meeting on Wednesday, April 10, from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at The Shepherd and The Knucklehead, 1313 Willow Ave. CAPS stands for Community And Public Safety, and is a way for members of the public to engage with local public safety officials.

Residents can meet with representatives of Hoboken Police, Hoboken Fire, Hoboken Office of Emergency Management, Hoboken EMS and Volunteer Ambulance Corps, and Hoboken Health Division. A question-and-answer session will be held, during which residents can ask about Public Safety related topics important to them.

Light refreshments will be served.  

Register for FREE Narcan training

The City of Hoboken and the Hoboken Health Division are partnering with Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and the New Jersey Division of Mental Health and Addiction Services to offer free Narcan training on Wednesday, April 24 at 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The training will be held in person at the Multi-Service Center, 124 Grand St. Registration is required.

The training will include lessons in overdose prevention strategies, signs/symptoms of an overdose, rescue breathing, and more.  All attendees will receive a free Naloxone kit. 

Those interested in attending the training must register by emailing [email protected] or calling (201) 420-2000, ext. 5212. Please be advised, space is limited, and registration is first come, first served. 

NJ MVC Mobile Unit in Hoboken

The New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission Mobile Unit will be in Hoboken multiple times over the next few weeks. Registration is required, and appointments are limited.  

On Tuesday, April 9, the MVC mobile unit will be at Hoboken City Hall, on the First Street side, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Registration is required, and appointments can be made at https://telegov.njportal.com/njmvcmobileunit. Please be advised appointments are limited. 

On Tuesday, April 23, the MVC mobile will be at 221 Jackson St. from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Registration is required and will open on April 9. Appointments can be made, starting on April 9, at https://telegov.njportal.com/njmvcmobileunit.

On Thursday, May 9, the MVC mobile unit will be at Fox Hill Gardens, on Willow Avenue between 12th and 13th Streets from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Registration is required and will be open later this month.
