Inmate passes away after a medical emergency
SHERIFF LEVON ALLEN 
Earlier today, Mr. Jason Sanford was brought into the Clayton County Jail at approximately 12:25 pm by the Clayton County Police Department on charges of giving a false name. Sanford was initially assessed by the jail medical staff and cleared to enter the jail.
At 1:12 pm, Sanford was again seen by medical staff, where he had complaints of back and wrist pain. Sanford was placed into an intake holding cell to finish the remainder of the booking process.
Sanford began to have a medical emergency and became unresponsive. Narcan was administered, CPR, and other life-saving efforts were performed.
Sanford was transported by Clayton County Emergency Services to Southern Regional Hospital, where life-saving procedures continued. At 7:18 pm, Mr. Sanford passed away.
The following agencies were notified: Clayton County Medical Examiner, GBI, and Sheriff’s CID & IA units.
