Cass County Sheriff Richard J. Behnke reports that on 4/5/2024 at approximately 7:40 Pm, his deputies responded to a personal injury crash near the intersection of US 12 and Conrad Rd in Milton Township.

The investigation shows that 55-year-old Osceola resident, James Harker Jr, fell asleep at the wheel and ran off the road.  Harker struck an large tree.  He had non-life-threatening injuries and SMCAS transported him to Memorial Hospital in South Bend.

Harker was wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash and drugs and alcohol do not appear to be a factor.  The Ontwa Township Police Department assisted the Sheriff's Office at the crash scene.  The incident remains under investigation.
