On Saturday, April 6, 2024, at approximately 8:43 am, the Simi Valley Police Department responded to weapon in progress at E. Pinecrest St and N. Justin Ave..
 
There was a family disturbance that escalated and the suspect stabbed the victim with a knife. The victim was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries and pronounced deceased shortly thereafter.  SVPD officers arrested the suspect, who was identified as 34 year-old, Simi Valley resident Gerardo Arroyo-Almanza.  Mr. Arroyo-Alamanza was arrested for homicide (PC 187) and subsequently booked into the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office Pre-Trial Detention Facility.
