Hoboken residents invited to information session re: PATH construction and possible impacts at the Hoboken terminal
Hoboken residents are invited to an upcoming community information session about the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey (PANYNJ) PATH Forward construction project, and its potential impact on service.
Representatives from PATH will host the open-house style meeting in the ground floor conference room of City Hall (Newark Street entrance) on Thursday, April 11, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
PATH Forward is a 2-year, $430 million-dollar, investment project to rehabilitate and modernize the 116-year-old system. In Hoboken Terminal, the project will include rebuilding stairways, restoring platforms, installing new LED lighting, cleaning and painting tunnel walls, and replacing tile walls on the mezzanine and platform levels. The existing track switching network outside the station will also be rebuilt and improved. The rehabilitation will also preserve the historic character of the station, including restoring a historic color scheme.
PATH will provide significant advance notice ahead of anticipated service impacts or stations closures. Service impacts at stations are expected to be limited to weekends in 2024, with some weekday impacts anticipated in 2025. Find information about Hoboken specific improvements and current impacts here: https://www.panynj.gov/path/en/modernizing-path/hoboken-improvements.html
For those unable to attend the in-person meeting, PATH will host a virtual information session on Tuesday, April 16, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. For more information on the project, and to register for the virtual session, visit: www.panynj.gov/PATHforward.
