Newark Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé requests the public’s help locating Carissa M. Huggins, 32, of East Orange, who is wanted for questioning in connection with the investigation of a shooting that occurred on Monday, April 1, 2024.
At approximately 10:30 p.m., Police responded to University Hospital on a report that a man arrived there for treatment of a gunshot wound. The victim reported that he was walking west on Springfield Avenue when a black SUV stopped in the area where he was walking and a passenger began shooting in his direction. The victim ran from the scene and was driven to University Hospital by a driver who offered him assistance. The victim is reportedly in stable condition but is unaware of the exact location of where he was when the shooting occurred.
Detectives investigating this incident are seeking Carissa Huggins for questioning.
