Deputies Respond to Report of Two Men Sleeping in Vehicle in Traffic Lane; Both Arrested for Alcohol Related Charges

INCIDENT: VC 23152(A)- Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol, VC 23152(B)- Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol with 0.08 Percent or more, PC 647(F)- Drunk in Public
LOCATION: Hesperia Road / Cherry Hill Drive, Victorville
SUSPECT(S): Jaime Rodriguez, 51-year-old Resident of Whittier
Harry Cruz, 37-year-old Resident of Whittier
SUMMARY: On Friday, April 5, 2024, at approximately 2:37 a.m., deputies from the Victorville station were dispatched to the intersection of Hesperia Road and Cherry Hill Drive for a vehicle in the middle of the intersection with two occupants possibly sleeping.
At approximately 2:46 a.m, deputies arrived on scene and located the vehicle with two occupants. Deputies approached a 2021 Chevy Silverado with the engine running and several beer bottles inside the vehicle. The driver, Jaime Rodriguez, and passenger, Harry Cruz, were both sleeping inside of the vehicle. Rodriguez and Cruz were found to be intoxicated and taken into custody.
Rodriguez was arrested and booked at High Desert Detention Center for VC 23152(A)- Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol, VC 23152(B)- Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol with 0.08 Percent or More. Cruz was arrested and booked at High Desert Detention Center for PC 647(F)- Drunk in Public.
