Rancho Cotate High School Lockdown Lifted After Swift Response to Threat

Rohnert Park, CA – A lockdown was initiated this morning at Rancho Cotate High School (RCHS) after school officials were alerted to a threatening message received by a student. The text, sent from another student residing in Santa Rosa, referenced a weapon and knowledge of the victim's school location, prompting immediate action by school authorities and law enforcement.
Based on the threat initially happening in Cotati, the threat investigation was handled by the Cotati Police Department. Cotati Police, in coordination with local law enforcement in Santa Rosa, conducted a thorough investigation, quickly locating the alleged juvenile responsible for the threat at her home. Following a comprehensive evaluation, authorities determined that there was no imminent risk to the students or staff at RCHS, leading to the lifting of the lockdown.
The school district and law enforcement agencies worked diligently and collaboratively to resolve the situation promptly and ensure the ongoing safety of the school community.
