Today, we honor and remember Pomona Police Officer George Muriset, who began his service in 1950. Starting as a young officer, he found his niche in the traffic division, where he worked as a Motorcycle Officer.
After serving just four years, Motor Officer Muriset was involved in a motorcycle accident on April 6, 1954, while on patrol on Reservoir Street.
On the day of the accident, heavy fog had reduced the visibility for all motorists, when an individual had backed out of a driveway onto Reservoir directly in the path of Officer Muriset. This caused a violent collision between the motorcycle and the vehicle, which resulted in the death of Officer Muriset days later on April 9, 1954.
The Pomona Police Department will always remember Motor Officer George Muriset.
