Armed Suspect Arrested

On 04/10/2024 at 08:55 a.m., Janesville Police Department Officers responded to 2021 Excalibur Dr. for a report of a family problem.  The victim reported that her brother had threatened her with a gun which she believed was a BB gun over a separate police investigation.
 
Upon officer’s arrival, contact was made with the victim and based on her statement, charges were able to be established to arrest the suspect.  The suspect was unwilling to cooperate and barricaded himself in the residence. During the initial investigation by patrol officers, the validity of the gun was found to be real and not a BB gun.
 
The Janesville Police Department SWAT team was contacted and responded to the incident location. After negotiating with the suspect and using less lethal options and techniques, the suspect surrendered.
 
The suspect was transported for medical assessment and evaluation prior to being taken to the jail.
