On February 2, 2024 at around 3:30 pm, a gang-related shooting occurred behind the Walgreens on North Texas Street and Atlantic Avenue. One person was struck by gunfire, and bullets narrowly missed a second person.
When police arrived on scene, witnesses advised them that two males were initially involved in physical altercation, when one pulled a gun and shot the other in the arm. The shooter then fled the scene.
The victim, a minor, was transported to a local hospital in stable condition and released. Within hours, the Investigations Division’s Special Operations Team (SOT) had identified the responsible person and obtained a probable cause arrest warrant.
On April 5, the Special Operations Team (SOT) located the suspect at a residence in Vallejo, California. The suspect, a member of a criminal street gang, was taken into custody a short time later on Interstate 80 near Red Top Road.
As the suspect in this case is a juvenile, his name is being withheld.
