OBSERVANT CITIZEN HELPS LEAD POLICE TO TWO FELONY ARRESTS

On 04/11/2024 at 4:50 PM, Officers responded to a burglary in progress radio call at the Post Office located at 2551 Galena Avenue.

An observant citizen reported that they observed suspects stealing mail from the location. The suspect's vehicle description was given to patrol units as the suspects fled the location. A short time later, Officers located the suspect vehicle traveling eastbound on Cochran Street. An attempt to stop the vehicle, resulted in a vehicle pursuit. The suspect's vehicle became disabled in the area of Cochran and Yosemite. The suspects abandoned their vehicle and fled on foot into the nearby neighborhood. A perimeter/containment was established within the area. Izekiel Murillo (26 years old) and Jose Salgado (21 years old), both from Los Angeles, were eventually taken into custody during the search. Both subjects are documented gang members. The suspects were arrested for 530.5PC-Identity Theft, 182(a)(1)PC-Conspiracy and 186.22PC-Gang Enhancement. Murillo was additionally charged with 2800.2(a)VC-Felony Evading, 2800.4VC-Eluding Police and 23103(a)VC-Reckless Driving. Both suspects were booked at the Ventura County Main Jail for the listed charges.
