Wilmington Police have arrested a man in connection with a shooting incident following an investigation.
On February 7, at approximately 11:19 a.m., members of the Uniformed Services Division responded to the 700 block of West 4th Street, in reference to a shooting incident. Upon arrival, officers located a 42-year-old male gunshot victim, who arrived to the hospital in stable condition. The case was assigned to Detective James Rook of the Criminal Investigations Division.
Through the course of his investigation, Detective Rook identified 23-year-old Michael McNeary as a suspect and obtained warrants for his arrest. On April 9, police took McNeary into custody without incident in the unit block of Lester Court, Dover, DE.
McNeary has been charged with the following offenses:
- Assault (First Degree)
- Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony
- Robbery (First Degree)
- Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited – Two Counts
- Reckless Endangering (First Degree) – Two Counts
- Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon
- Discharging a Firearm on a City Street
He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and was committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $222,500 cash-only bail.
