Stolen Semi-Truck and Trailer Involved in Vehicle Pursuit

Incident Summary

On April 11, 2024, at approximately 9:26 pm, Petaluma Police Department officers were dispatched to the area of  North McDowell Boulevard and Professional Drive to investigate a report of a stolen semi-truck with a 40 ft. trailer attached.

As officers were responding to the area, they located the semi-truck travelling northbound on North McDowell Boulevard at Transport Way. As officers initiated a traffic stop on the semi-truck, the driver, later identified as forty-one-year-old, Glenn Hopkins out of San Francisco, accelerated to approximately 30-35 MPH. As he accelerated, Hopkins appeared to have difficulty controlling the large truck and was weaving over the entire roadway, striking the center median as he traveled, posing a significant public safety concern. As Hopkins turned on Corona Road to travel eastbound, the truck trailer ran over the curb and sidewalk. Hopkins continued east on Corona Road and struck a tree and road sign at the Corona Road roundabout. Hopkins continued southbound on Sonoma Mountain Parkway at speeds of approximately 30-35 mph. Hopkins ultimately turned onto Colombard Road and yielded in the area.

Hopkins was taken into custody without further incident and later booked at the Sonoma County Main Adult Detention Facility for violation of the listed offenses below.
  • Felony possession of a stolen vehicle.
  • Felony evading of a police officer with wanton disregard for safety.
  • Misdemeanor hit and run causing property damage.
