Felony OWI 4th Offense
On April 13, 2024, at 12:56 am, Middleton Police responded to the 7600 block of Lisa Lane for a truck that was “squealing its tires.” As officers were responding to the scene, an officer observed a truck matching the description given to dispatch at a nearby gas station. The officer reported seeing the driver of the truck accelerate rapidly as it was leaving the gas station, causing the vehicle to fishtail. Based on these observations, the officer initiated a traffic stop and contacted the driver.
The driver was identified as Liam C. McDermott, age 29, of Middleton. The officer noted a strong odor of intoxicates coming from McDermott’s breath, slurred speech, and red and glossy eyes. McDermott also appeared lethargic.
Following field sobriety testing, McDermott was arrested for 4th offense operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated (OWI), a felony. A blood search warrant was obtained, and results are pending.
McDermott was booked into the Dane County Jail for the felony OWI.
