Wilmington Police arrest man in connection with March 6 shooting incident:
Wilmington Police have arrested a man in connection with a shooting incident following an investigation.
On March 6, at approximately 7:55 a.m., members of the Uniformed Services Division responded to the 500 block of East 9th Street, in reference to a shooting incident. Upon arrival, officers located a 20-year-old male gunshot victim, who was transported to the hospital in stable condition. The case was assigned to Detective Brendan Shea of the Criminal Investigations Division.
Through the course of his investigation, Detective Shea identified 19-year-old Kylier Coleman-Smith as a suspect and obtained warrants for his arrest. On April 10, members of the Canine Unit observed Coleman-Smith in the 500 block of North Madison Street, and took him into custody without incident.
Coleman-Smith has been charged with the following offenses:
- Assault (First Degree)
- Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony
- Discharging a Firearm on a City Street
