Municipal budget introduction & workshop tonight; Annual tree tour; Register your property

The Hoboken City Council will have a special public meeting tonight, April 15, to introduce the 2024 municipal budget. The meeting will be held via Zoom starting at 5:30 p.m.   

Following the budget introduction, nine budget workshops will be held over three days via Zoom.   

The workshop schedule is as follows:   

Monday, April 15:  

  • Administration and Finance  
  • City Clerk
  • Corporation Counsel  

Tuesday, April 16:  

  • Transportation and Parking 
  • Parks, Recreation, and Public Works
  • Community Development  

Wednesday, April 24:

  • Water Utility
  • Climate Action & Innovation
  • Public Safety  

The workshops are scheduled to begin at 6 p.m.

Join the annual tree tour  

The City of Hoboken and the Hoboken Shade Tree Commission invite residents to the Joyce Kilmer Arbor Day Tree Tour on April. 26, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.  

The three-hour tour will teach residents about different tree species, the importance of tree diversity, tree lifecycles, & more.   

Residents can walk to any location to participate. The locations and approximate discussion times are as follows:   

  • Pier A Park: 9:15 a.m.
  • 7th & Jackson Resiliency Park: 9:45 a.m. 
  • Brandt School: 10:15 a.m. 
  • Elysian Park: 10:45 a.m.
  • Southwest Resiliency Park: 11:15 a.m.
  • Church Square Park: 11:30 a.m.  

Those with mobility issues can take a free Hop shuttle which will depart at 9 a.m. and return at 12 p.m. at the Multi-Service Center, 124 Grand St.  

Register your property  

All property owners who lease a single family, condominium, multiple dwelling units, and or mixed-use buildings are required by law to register their property annually. Registration is available online via the SDL Portal.    

Property owners who registered their property in the SDL Portal in 2023, can renew their Property Registration in a few simple steps. Once logged into your account, in the Requests icon, select "Start a New Request", there you can select "Renew" to complete the Property Registration for 2024.  

If you did not register in 2023, you can register your property at www.hobokennj.gov/SDL by creating an account. Once logged in, go to your account page and click on "requests" to "claim your property" once you have provided the information and uploaded your property claim documents, you can “register your property” from the requests tab in the upper left corner. Your annual payment for Property Registration can be made online. Your account page will then list your claimed and registered properties, which you can edit.
