National RX Drug Take Back Day-Saturday, April 27th
To help reduce the risk of prescription drug abuse, Santa Clara PD is encouraging the public to participate in a nationwide Drug Enforcement Administration - DEA prescription drug take back initiative on Saturday, April 27th.
Between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. members of the public may turn in unused, unneeded, or expired prescription medications at our main lobby located at 601 El Camino Real. Take Back Day offers free and anonymous disposal of unneeded medications at close to 5,000 local drop-off locations nationwide.
In partnership with local law enforcement, Take Back Day has removed 8,950 tons of medication from circulation since its inception.
Collection sites will not accept syringes, sharps, and illicit drugs. Liquid products, such as cough syrup, should remain sealed in their original container. The cap must be tightly sealed to prevent leakage.
