16-Year-Old Boy Arrested After Leading Deputies on a Vehicle Pursuit

DATE/TIME: April 11, 2024, at approximately 1:16 a.m.

INCIDENT: Felony Evading

LOCATION: City of Needles

SUSPECT(S): Confidential Male Juvenile, Age16, Resident of Mohave Valley, AZ
                        Confidential Male Juvenile, Age 14, Resident of Fort Mohave, AZ

VICTIM(S): State of California


SUMMARY: On Thursday, April 11, 2024, at approximately 1:16 a.m., deputies from the Colorado River Station / Needles Police Department attempted a traffic stop on a vehicle for no headlights. The vehicle failed to yield and lead deputies on a pursuit through residential streets into Mohave Valley, AZ. The pursuit terminated near Palo Verde and Ranchero after the driver lost control of the vehicle and rolled into the desert. The two occupants then fled on foot into the desert. The passenger, a 14-year-old male juvenile, was taken into custody a short time after. The driver, a 16-year-old male juvenile, continued to flee on foot in an attempt to elude capture. Deputies continued pursuing the 16-year-old juvenile through the desert and was ultimately able to take him into custody a short time later, without incident.

The 16 -year-old male juvenile was transported and booked at the Apple Valley Juvenile Hall for CVC2800.2(A)- Felony Evading, pending a court hearing.

 The 14 year old male juvenile was issued a citation and released to his parents, pending a  court hearing.
