Robbery Suspect Arrested
 
A man attempted to steal a cell phone, was found and arrested. 
 
San Mateo, CA – On April 15, 2024, at 7:15 p.m., San Mateo Police Department received a 911 call advising a male suspect was chasing another person near Coyote Point Park, located at 1601 Coyote Point Drive. 
 
Officers arrived on scene and found the victim that was chased.  The victim told police while he was walking, a male suspect approached him and demanded his cell phone.  The suspect had a pistol in the waistband of his pants.  The victim was able to distract the suspect and run away toward Coyote Point Park where officers later found him. 
 
The suspect chased the victim as he ran and could not catch up.  The suspect then got into a nearby white SUV and left the scene.  Officers were able to get a license plate number from a person who witnessed the incident.    
 
Officers searched the area for the white SUV and found the car parked in front of Target at the BridgePointe Shopping Center.  The car was unoccupied, and officers waited for the suspect to return to his vehicle.  When the suspect returned, he was safely detained.  The suspect was identified as Michael Bruni.  A search of the white SUV was completed, and a BB gun was found on the passenger floorboard that resembled a Glock handgun.  Narcotic paraphernalia was also found inside the vehicle.  Officers also learned Bruni was on bail for a previous arrest.  Bruni was arrested and book into San Mateo County Jail on multiple charges.

Michael Bruni, 33-year-old Hillsborough resident.
 
CHARGES:
212.5(c) PC- Robbery second degree, 417(a)(1) PC- Exhibit a deadly weapon, 11364(a) HS- Possess unlawful paraphernalia, 12022.1 PC- Committing a Felony while on Bail.
