Police Seek Public’s Help Identifying Commercial Robbery Suspect

Newark Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé requests the public’s help in locating the pictured suspect, who struck a victim as she was leaving a discount store without paying for several items on April 8, 2024.
Police responded to the incident that occurred at approximately 9:50 a.m. at the Dollar General,  located in the 100 block of W. Market Street. The victim confronted the suspect, a Black female, as she was about to walk out of the store with two bags of unpaid items. When the victim asked the woman to put the bags down, the suspect refused, punched the victim in the face, and left the store with one of the bags.
The suspect, described as 5’4,” 150 pounds, and 45-50 years old, was wearing a burgundy jacket, white purse,  and blue jeans. She was last seen in the area of Roseville Avenue and Sixth Avenue
