Crime Alert Bulletin Covering the Week of April 8-14, 2024

When I mention “the unit block” of a street, this means the incident occurred at an address anywhere between 1 and 99 of the street.

Robberies

There were three robberies during the past week.

On Friday, 04-12-24, at approximately 5:13 a.m., officers were dispatched to the unit block of Skyline Drive in response to a residential alarm. The victim stated that she heard a noise followed by a second loud noise that triggered her alarm. It was discovered that the front window was broken and the screen had been cut by unknown suspect(s). As the victim descended the stairs, she heard voices but could not tell what was being said. Subsequently, she called her son, who lives across the street. Officers entered the residence and confirmed no one was inside. A bag of jewelry, described by the victim as “prop” jewelry valued at approximately $500, was found on the street. This investigation is continuing.

On Friday, 04-12-24, at approximately 8:24 p.m., officers were dispatched to Lucky’s Supermarket on Mission Street in response to a report of an assault. The head clerk stated that a suspect entered the store, selected chicken and ribs, and proceeded towards the exit doors. The head clerk said he approached the suspect before the exit doors and informed the suspect that he needed to pay for the chicken and ribs. The head clerk attempted to retrieve the ribs from the suspect, but the suspect pulled the ribs back towards his body, causing the packaging to break and the ribs to fall to the ground. The suspect, still holding the ribs container, struck the head clerk with it and then left the store with the chicken valued at seven dollars. Subsequently, the suspect entered his vehicle and was confronted by the head clerk. The suspect then retrieved a golf club from his vehicle and followed the head clerk towards the store’s entrance doors. As the head clerk tried to call the police, the suspect hit the head clerk’s iPhone with the golf club, causing it to fall to the ground and crack its screen. The suspect and head clerk then got into an altercation. Following that, the suspect fled in his vehicle. Officers followed the vehicle, which eventually stopped on the 100 block of Bismark Street. The suspect, a 46-year-old Daly City resident, was arrested and booked into jail for robbery, assault with a deadly weapon, and vandalism.

On Sunday, 04-14-24, at approximately 4:00 p.m., officers were dispatched to Lucky’s Supermarket on Mission Street in response to a report of a theft. The employee who was staffed at the self-checkout said she noticed two suspects. One of the suspects was not scanning all of the items in their shopping cart. The employee approached the suspect and confronted her regarding the unscanned items. Both suspects proceeded to walk out of the store with unpaid cases of soda and miscellaneous items. As they exited, the suspects returned two cases of soda, loaded the rest of the items from the cart into their vehicle, and then fled the scene. While the employee was speaking to 911, she heard the second suspect state, “Hit that b*tch.” Feeling threatened for her safety, the employee returned inside the store. A sergeant stopped the suspect vehicle in the area of Sickles Street and Cayuga Avenue in San Francisco. The suspect who was not scanning all the items, a 34-year-old Oakland resident, was arrested and booked into jail for robbery. The second suspect, a 35-year-old San Francisco resident, was arrested and booked into jail for robbery.

Nextdoor.com

Nextdoor.com is a free private social networking website for your neighborhood. This private network ensures that only those who live in your neighborhood can join; users must go through a verification process. Neighbors ask each other for business recommendations; help in locating missing pets; discuss relevant local government issues; or connect for other reasons. It is very easy to sign up. I like the fact that the site verifies users by addresses, and it won’t allow people to access a neighborhood if they don’t live there. Please note: The City of Daly City and/or the Police Department cannot see what residents post—we are only allowed to post information. There is also a mobile application, or you can have it sent to your e-mail. Give it a try!  www.nextdoor.com
