On Wednesday April 17, 2024, a 20 year-old Simi Valley man committed a strong arm robbery against his 85 year-old grandfather in the 1700 block of First St.  Kaden Gonzaga used physical force to take personal property from his grandfather.  When officers arrived on scene, Gonzaga was inside his residence and refused to come out.

On Thursday April 18, 2024, officers obtained an arrest warrant for Gonzaga on the charges of robbery and elder abuse.  Officers went to Gonzaga's residence and advised him they had a warrant for his arrest.  Gonzaga refused to exit the residence or open the door.  Force was used to enter the residence and Gonzaga was located in a bedroom.  Gonzaga refused commands to submit to arrest and threatened to use violence against officers.  Two less lethal rounds (37mm rubber batons) were used, but were ineffective.  A police K9 was deployed and Gonzaga surrendered.

Gonzaga was safely taken into custody with minor injuries to him and no injuries to officers.

Gonzaga was treated at a local hospital and booked at the Ventura County Pre-Trial Detention Facility for robbery, elder abuse, and obstructing a peace officer.
