Wilmington Police arrest wanted man on gun and drug charges:
Wilmington Police have arrested a wanted man on gun and drug charges.
On April 18, at approximately 7:12 p.m., members of the Safe Streets Task Force responded to the 100 block of North Franklin Street, in reference to a suspicious person complaint. Upon arrival, police made contact with 22-year-old Damon Hancock, who was found to be wanted on an outstanding capias. Hancock was taken into custody without incident and following a brief investigation, police recovered a loaded 9mm handgun, and 8.9 grams of crack cocaine.
Hancock has been charged with the following offenses in addition to his outstanding capias:
- Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony
- Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition by a Person Prohibited – Two Counts
- Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon
- Receiving a Stolen Firearm
- Possession of a Controlled Substance in Tier 1 Quantity
