Media Release from the Camden County Prosecutor's Office of New Jersey- Man Charged for Fatal Shooting in Gloucester Township
A Gloucester Township man has been arrested and charged in connection with the fatal shooting of a man in Gloucester Township on April 16, 2024, reported Camden County Prosecutor Grace C. MacAulay and Gloucester Township Police Chief David Harkins.
On Tuesday, April 16, 2024, at approximately 5:27 p.m., Gloucester Township Police officers were dispatched to a residence in the LaCascata development in Gloucester Township, New Jersey for a report of a person shot. Upon arrival, officers located a male victim later identified as Nasir Tart, 24, of Gloucester Township, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Tart was pronounced deceased at the scene at 5:50 p.m.
Following an investigation by detectives of the Camden County Prosecutor's Office of New Jersey Homicide Unit and detectives of the Gloucester Township Police Department, Hasan Battie, 21, of Gloucester Township, was charged in the fatal shooting of Tart.
Battie has been charged with first-degree Murder, second-degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, and second-degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose.
Battie was taken into custody in Camden City on April 22, 2024, by the United States Marshals Service New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force – Camden Division. He was remanded to the Camden County Correctional Facility pending a pretrial detention hearing.
All persons charged with crimes are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
