Parole Violation
On Tuesday, April 23, 2024, at approximately 3:43 AM, Petaluma Police Officers and Petaluma Fire Department Medics were dispatched to the Studios at Montero for an assault victim who was down and needing emergency medical aid.
Officers arrived on scene and located the victim who had sustained significant facial and head injuries and was actively bleeding. Petaluma Fire Department Medics treated the victim on scene and transported him to an area hospital for further treatment.
Officers spoke with the victim and witnesses and were able to identify Hiram Joseph as the suspect. Officers learned that Joseph had arrived at the Studios at Montero and contacted the victim at the door of one of the rooms. Joseph then assaulted the victim causing facial and head injuries. During the assault the victim lost consciousness. Joseph fled the scene in a vehicle prior to Officers arrival.
Through a records check, Officers learned that Joseph was on active California Department of Corrections Parole. Officers also learned the terms of his parole required that he wear a GPS ankle monitor.
Officers were able to track Jospeh to the area of South Santa Rosa and requested the assistance of the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office in locating him. Sheriffs Deputies were able to successfully locate Jospeh and detained him for Petaluma Police. Petaluma Police Officers responded to the area and took custody of Joseph.
After interviewing Joseph, Officers transported him to the Sonoma County Jail Main Adult Detention Facility and booked him in for 245(a)(4) PC- Assault Causing Great Bodily Injury, and 3056 PC- No Bail Parole Violation Hold.
The Petaluma Police Department would like to thank the Sonoma County Sheriffs Office for their assistance. This incident is an excellent example of the routine collaboration that occurs daily between Sonoma County Law Enforcement agencies which undoubtedly keeps our communities safer.
