Dear Simi Valley Schools Community:
Earlier today, Simi Valley High School was put under lockdown due to a bomb threat made to the school. The Simi Valley Police Department responded immediately and deployed officers and K9 units to search the entire campus. Students and staff were calmly evacuated to the high school’s stadium while SVPD searched every building and outside area of the campus. Nothing was found, and after several hours, the school was pronounced clear and safe. Students returned to their classrooms and the school day resumed as normal.
During this time, we sent regular messages to the SVHS community advising families of all updates. All staff and students were safe during the entire incident. If you are a parent or guardian, please make sure that your child’s Aeries account is checked and updated every new school year to ensure that you receive the emergency messages. It is vitally important that your child’s medical information is also updated each year, and that those people who have your permission to pick up your child from school are entered into Aeries.
The SVPD will continue to investigate the source of the threat. Please remind your children that all threats made to our schools, staff or students are taken seriously.
We want to thank our community and especially our SVPD for their prompt and thorough attention to this incident. We want to remind our community that we post updates to our district’s Facebook page as soon as we send the messages to our school community. Our Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/SimiValleySchools/, is the most accurate source of information during an emergency for the community at-large.
