Crime Alert Bulletin Covering the Week of April 15-21, 2024

When I mention “the unit block” of a street, this means the incident occurred at an address anywhere between 1 and 99 of the street.

Robberies

There were four robberies during the past week.

On Friday, 04-12-24, at approximately 2:00 a.m., on the unit block of Forest Grove Drive, a known suspect forcefully took a victim’s cell phone and three necklaces valued at approximately $3,600. The suspect, a 29-year-old Daly City resident, was arrested for robbery and other offenses.

On Saturday, 04-20-24, at approximately 9:00 p.m., on the unit block of School Street, a known suspect forcefully took a victim’s cell phone valued at approximately $1,000.

On Saturday, 04-20-24, at approximately 5:35 p.m., officers were dispatched to Nordstrom Rack at the Serramonte Shopping Center on a report of a shoplifting. Asset protection agents stated that a suspect entered the store, concealed a pair of shoes valued at approximately $48, and exited without paying. Outside of the store, an asset protection agent identified himself and explained to the suspect that he had unpaid merchandise and they needed to complete paperwork. Another asset protection agent arrived to assist. The suspect then pushed both asset protection agents and punched one of them in the head before fleeing. An officer later located the suspect on the south side of Target. After one of the asset protection agents positively identified the suspect, a 54-year-old San Francisco resident, the suspect was arrested and booked into jail for robbery and an outstanding warrant.

On Saturday, 04-20-24, at approximately 7:10 p.m., officers were dispatched to the Gold Center at the Serramonte Shopping Center on a report of a robbery. Employees stated that two suspects approached their kiosk and requested to see pendants and rope chains. The first suspect handed $200 to one of the employees for a $500 pendant. Both employees’ attention was diverted, and upon returning to tend to the suspects, they noticed a pendant and rope chain valued at approximately $2,500 were missing. When the employees confronted the suspects about the missing jewelry, the first suspect slammed his fists against the glass and raised his voice. One of the employees said he felt scared due to the first suspect’s sudden change in behavior. Subsequently, the first suspect grabbed the $200 from the second employee’s hand, causing the second employee to move the suspect’s wallet from the counter to the center island. The second employee explained that if the jewelry was returned, the wallet would be returned as well. The suspect then jumped over the glass, grabbed his wallet from the second employee’s hand, and both suspects left the mall and fled in a vehicle. Later, officers stopped the vehicle, and one of the employees identified the suspects. Both suspects, aged 22 and 31 San Francisco residents, were arrested and booked into jail for robbery and conspiracy.

Nextdoor.com

Nextdoor.com is a free private social networking website for your neighborhood. This private network ensures that only those who live in your neighborhood can join; users must go through a verification process. Neighbors ask each other for business recommendations; help in locating missing pets; discuss relevant local government issues; or connect for other reasons. It is very easy to sign up. I like the fact that the site verifies users by addresses, and it won’t allow people to access a neighborhood if they don’t live there. Please note: The City of Daly City and/or the Police Department cannot see what residents post—we are only allowed to post information. There is also a mobile application, or you can have it sent to your e-mail. Give it a try!  www.nextdoor.com
