Deputies Conduct Sex Registrant Compliance Sweep in Loma Linda, Grand Terrace, and Surrounding County Areas

DATE/TIME: Wednesday, April 24, and Thursday, April 25, 2024

INCIDENT: PC 290 - Sex Registrant Compliance Sweep

LOCATION: Cities of Loma Linda, Grand Terrace and the unincorporated area of San Bernardino

SUMMARY: On Wednesday, April 24, and Thursday, April 25, 2024, deputies from the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department, Central Station, conducted a sex registrant (PC 290) compliance sweep in the cities of Loma Linda and Grand Terrace, and the unincorporated area  of San Bernardino. Per California Penal Code 290, individuals convicted of qualifying sex crimes are required to register as sex offenders. Convicted subjects are required to register with their local law enforcement agency upon release from custody, within five days of their birthday annually, and within five days of moving to a new residence.

The purpose of this compliance sweep was to confirm locations and information for registered sex offenders in the above jurisdictions and locate registered sex offenders who were out of compliance with the terms and conditions of their sex registrant requirements.

During this two-day compliance sweep, deputies attempted to contact 98 registrants. Deputies found three subjects no longer living at the residence they listed and who may be in violation. Additional investigation will be conducted to locate these subjects and forward cases to the Office of the District Attorney, if appropriate. One subject was arrested for an outstanding warrant.

Central Station deputies conduct PC 290 compliance sweeps randomly every quarter to help ensure compliance with state laws.

Anyone with information related to out of compliance sexual offenders is asked to contact the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Central Station at (909)387-3545.
