Flood Warning until 10:08PM Tuesday

...The Flood Warning continues for the following rivers in Nevada... Owyhee River near Mountain City affecting Elko County. For the Owyhee River...including Wildhorse Dam, Wildhorse, Mountain City...Minor flooding is forecast.

* WHAT...Minor flooding is observed.

* WHERE...Owyhee River near Mountain City.

* WHEN...Until late Tuesday evening.

* IMPACTS...At 9.0 feet, Moderate flooding occurs along the river channel. River embankment erosion occurs. Rodeo grounds are flooded. Low-lying hay fields and pasture flooding occurs. Businesses located along the river in Mountain City experience water seepage. Water has to be pumped from the Visitor Center. River level is nearing the level of the Boney Lane Bridge spanning the Owyhee River, and Nevada State Highway 225 between Mountain City and Owyhee. Access to Pleasant Valley is impacted.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 3:10 AM PDT Friday the stage was 8.5 feet. - Bankfull stage is 7.0 feet. - Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending at 3:10 AM PDT Friday was 8.6 feet. - Forecast...The river level is forecast to fluctuate in the coming days but remain within minor flood stage. - Minor flood stage is 8.0 feet. Moderate flood stage is 9.0 feet. - Flood History...No available flood history. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood

* AFFECTED AREAS: ELKO, NV

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Caution is urged when walking near riverbanks. Additional information is available at www.weather.gov. Next issuance will be by this afternoon at 500 PM PDT.
