Flood Advisory until 10:00PM

...The Flood Advisory continues for the following rivers in New Mexico... Rio Chama Below Abiquiu Dam affecting Rio Arriba County. .Snow melt and increased reservoir releases will cause the river flows to become high. Expect minor flooding downstream from the dam.

* WHAT...Flooding caused by snowmelt continues.

* WHERE...Rio Chama Below Abiquiu Dam.

* WHEN...Until further notice.

* IMPACTS...At 5.4 feet, INITIAL FLOOD STAGE. FARMS AND PROPERTIES ALONG RIVER WILL SEE SIGNIFICANT OVERBANK FLOODING. IF THE RIO OJO CALIENTE IS RUNNING AT 550 CFS OR HIGHER PROPERTIES NEAR AND BELOW THE CONFLUENCE OF THE RIO CHAMA AND RIO OJO CALIENTE WILL SEE SIGNIFICANT OVERBANK FLOODING, BANK EROSION AND DAMAGE TO WELLS AND OUTBUILDINGS. IMPACTS WILL INCREASE IN SEVERITY AT HIGHER STAGES. FISHING SPOTS AND PICNIC AREAS BELOW ABIQUIU WILL BE INACESSIBLE.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 7:15 AM MDT Friday the stage was 4.8 feet. - Bankfull stage is 4.8 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage early Sunday afternoon and continue rising to 5.5 feet Monday evening. Additional rises are possible thereafter. - Action stage is 4.8 feet. - Flood stage is 5.4 feet. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
