...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT FOR TODAY BETWEEN NOON AND 8 PM FOR THE NORTHEAST AND EAST CENTRAL PLAINS DUE TO STRONG WINDS, LOW HUMIDITY AND AN UNSTABLE ATMOSPHERE... .Critical fire weather conditions return this afternoon and evening for the Northeast and East Central Plans of New Mexico. Strong southwest winds will develop as a storm system crosses the Four Corners region. Additionally, humidity readings will once again dip down below 15 percent. Improving conditions are expected this evening as a cold front passes lowering temperatures and raising humidity values. The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued a Red Flag Warning...which is in effect from noon today to 8 PM MDT this evening. The Fire Weather Watch is no longer in effect.
* AREA AND TIMING...This includes the East Central Plains (Zone 126) this afternoon and evening.
* 20 FOOT WINDS...Southwest 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 45 mph.
* RELATIVE HUMIDITY...Minimum values between 10 and 15 percent.
* IMPACTS...Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly. Outdoor burning is not recommended.
* AFFECTED AREAS: EAST CENTRAL PLAINS
