**Community alert**
Two vehicles were stolen out of driveways within the Town of North Castle this weekend. In both instances, the vehicles were unlocked, with the key inside of the vehicle. We would like to remind the community of the following safeguards.
-Take your vehicle's key; do not leave it in or on your vehicle. This is especially important. Almost all stolen vehicle reports that the North Castle Police Department handles, the key fob was left inside of the vehicle and the car was unlocked.
-Close and lock all windows and doors when you park.
-Park in well-lit areas if possible.
-Never leave valuables in your vehicle, especially if they can be seen from outside the vehicle.
If your car is unlocked and the fob is inside, a thief doesn't necessarily have to see the fob. If they step on the brake and press the button, the car will start and they can drive away with your vehicle.
Please report any suspicious persons or vehicles to the North Castle Police Department so we can investigate.
