The Newark Police Department is releasing information about recent crime and police activity that has occurred within our community. 
 
MONDAY, APRIL 22, 2024: 
6:25 AM Officer Williams located and recovered a stolen vehicle near Bellhaven Avenue & Christine Street.
 
6:40 AM Officer S. Torres arrived at Cedar & Newark Boulevards to investigate a disturbance and located a 34-year-old male from Newark with an active warrant. He was arrested and booked into Santa Rita Jail.
 
7:02 AM Officer Williams investigated a vehicle burglary near Haley & Bettencourt Streets.
 
7:17 AM Officer Frentescu was dispatched to a vehicle burglary near Jasmine Avenue & Bluebell Drive. The passenger window was shattered and no reported loss.
 
7:46 AM Officer Williams located a stolen vehicle near Thornton Avenue & Willow Street.
 
11:47 AM Officer Taylor investigated a vehicle burglary near Hickory Street & Central Avenue.
  
TUESDAY, APRIL 23, 2024: 
8:23 AM Officer S. Torres was dispatched to Cornwall Place & Edgewater Drive for a welfare check and located two subjects in the roadway. A 55-year-old male from Fremont and a 47-year-old female from Hayward were arrested for outstanding warrants and released on scene with a citation.
 
1:15 PM Abatement Officer Heckman was processing a vehicle near Leone Street & Wilma Avenue. A 37-year-old male from East Palo Alto was contacted with a felony warrant for his arrest and transported to Santa Rita Jail for booking.
 
7:25 PM Officer Kapu investigated a vehicle theft on the 39200 block of Cherry Street.
 
11:55 PM Officers responded to Cedar Boulevard & Dupont Avenue to investigate a vehicle with erratic driving. Upon arriving, a 39-year-old male from Newark was arrested for driving under influence and booked into Santa Rita Jail.
  
WEDNESDAY, APRIL 24, 2024: 
5:35 AM Officer Kapu was dispatched to Central Avenue & Cedar Boulevard to investigate a burglary. A 38-year-old male from Newark was arrested for trespassing and released with a citation to appear.
 
5:57 AM Officer Williams responded to Milani Avenue & Saint Christopher Street to investigate a vehicle burglary.
 
7:40 AM Officer Stevenson was dispatched to Filbert Street & Enterprise Drive on a report of a vandalism. A 39-year-old male from Newark was arrested for vandalism, narcotics, and transported to Santa Rita Jail for violating the terms of his probation.
 
8:38 AM Officer Lara responded to Saint Mary & Saint Mark Avenues to investigate a court order violation. A 28-year-old male from Redwood City was discovered with a restraining order and taken to Santa Rita Jail for booking.
 
9:00 AM Officer Williams located and recovered an unoccupied stolen vehicle parked near Normandy & Orleans Drives.
  
THURSDAY, APRIL 25, 2024: 
11:30 AM Officer Stevenson was dispatched to a vehicle burglary near Jarvis Avenue and Newark Boulevard. Upon investigation, entry was gained by forcing open the lock. Loss included specialized drilling equipment.
 
2:46 PM Officer Piquette investigated a vehicle burglary on the 5300 block of Port Sailwood Drive. The vehicle lock was forced open. Reported loss included a dashcam, Fastrak transponder and vehicle parts.
 
6:18 PM Officer Stevenson investigated a vehicle theft near Clark Avenue & Sycamore Street.
 
6:20 PM CSO Mora was dispatched to investigate a vehicle burglary near the 36000 block of Lakewood Drive. The driver’s side window was shattered, reported loss includes a steering wheel.
 
10:13 PM CSO Mora investigated a vehicle burglary on the 36600 block of Sycamore Street. The passenger window was shattered and the loss is currently unknown at this time.
 
10:35 PM CSO Mora investigated multiple vehicle burglaries near Smith Avenue & Birch Street. Loss included miscellaneous personal belongings.
 
FRIDAY, APRIL 26, 2024: 
6:43 AM Officer Lara investigated a vehicle burglary on the 6400 block of Dairy Avenue. Loss included tools and a backpack.
 
6:56 AM Officer Frentescu investigated a vehicle theft on the 5100 block of Tenaya Avenue.
 
12:44 PM Officer Stevenson was dispatched to a vehicle burglary near Mulberry Street & George Avenue. Loss included personal checks and cash.
 
4:53 PM CSO Mora responded to a vehicle theft report near Hickory Street & Quiet Cove Way.
 
8:06 PM Officer C. Torres was dispatched to a vehicle theft near Galletta Drive & Plummer Avenue.
 
SATURDAY, APRIL 27, 2024: 
1:55 AM Officer Orozco was on patrol near Cedar Boulevard & Thornton Avenue and noticed a vehicle without operating taillights. Upon investigation, a 40-year-old male from Fremont was arrested for driving under influence and booked into Santa Rita Jail.
 
2:46 AM Officer Medina investigated the theft of a vehicle near Balentine Drive & Mowry School Road.
 
7:04 AM Officer Lara responded to Cherry Street & Montcalm Avenue for a vehicle burglary. The loss is currently unknown.
 
8:19 AM Officer Jackman responded to the 6300 block of Joaquin Murieta Avenue for a vehicle burglary. There was no reported loss.
 
9:53 AM Officer Williams was dispatched to Lafayette Avenue & Sandalwood Street for a vehicle burglary. Entry was from forcing the lock, loss included tools.
 
SUNDAY, APRIL 28, 2024: 
2:47 AM Officer C. Torres was dispatched to Arden Street & Plummer Avenue for the report of a vehicle theft.
 
11:01 AM Officer Wiliams initiated a traffic stop on Walnut Street & Thornton Avenue for a vehicle without license plates. The driver, a 43-year-old unsheltered male from Hayward, was arrested for an outstanding warrant and transported to Santa Rita Jail.
 
11:25 PM Officers were attending an incident near Cedar Boulevard & Stevenson Boulevard and observed a vehicle driving recklessly. A 22-year-old male from Fremont was arrested and released on scene with a citation for reckless driving.
