...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT ACROSS EASTERN NEW MEXICO AND THE UPPER RIO GRANDE VALLEY LATE WEDNESDAY MORNING THROUGH WEDNESDAY EVENING DUE TO STRONG WINDS, LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITY, AND AN UNSTABLE ATMOSPHERE... .Southwest winds will increase Wednesday ahead of a disturbance over the Great Basin. 20 foot winds of 20 to 30 mph with gusts of 35 to 40 mph, relative humidity falling to or below 10 percent for a few hours, high Haines and dry fine fuels will result in critical fire weather conditions late Wednesday morning through early evening. Critical fire weather conditions wane after sunset as winds taper off and relative humidity rises. The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued a Red Flag Warning...which is in effect from 11 AM to 8 PM MDT Wednesday. The Fire Weather Watch is no longer in effect.
* AREA AND TIMING...Northeast Plains (Zone 104), Northeast Highlands (Zone 123), Central Highlands (Zone 125), and East Central Plains (Zone 126) late Wednesday morning through Wednesday evening.
* 20 FOOT WINDS...Southwest winds of 20 to 30 mph with peak gusts of 35 to 40 mph Wednesday afternoon.
* RELATIVE HUMIDITY...Falling to 6 to 10 percent Wednesday afternoon.
* IMPACTS...Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly. Outdoor burning is not recommended.
