The Oak Grove Schools Severe Weather Safe Room is now open for possible severe weather.  It is located on the south side of Oak Grove High School Performing Arts Center at 605 Southeast 12th Street. Please do not wait until the last minute to go to the shelter.  We are opening the shelter due to a line of thunderstorn in the Topeka-Lawrence, Kansas area with a Severe Thunderstorm Warning up to the State Line.  Two storms in this lin have a history of producing brief tornados.  Waiting until a warning is issued is often too late.  Sorry, pets are not allowed inside the Performing Arts Center. Food and drink other than baby formula, and use of tobacco products is also prohibited.  The Safe Room entrance is on the southwest corner of the High School building and can be reached from SE 12th Street, SE 16th Street east from Broadway, or SE 14th Street east from SE Salem Street.  Questions?  Call 816-834-1626 or 816-690-3773 extension 1105.
