Warrant service nets 11 grams of Methamphetamines.

On April 30, 2024, at 7:13 p.m. Deputies with the Gibson County Sheriff’s Office went to 10638 East 450 South near Somerville, Indiana to serve a Failure To Appear arrest warrant on 61 year old John R. Houchins of Oakland City.  Upon arriving on scene Mr. Houchins and 20 year old Savanna Whitehead of Princeton were taken into custody after Drug Paraphernalia and Methamphetamines were observed in plain view.   Deputy Quinten Might began a drug investigation where he recovered 11.1 grams of Methamphetamines from the camping trailer the couple were occupying on the property.  At the conclusion of the investigation Mr. Houchins and Ms. Whitehead were transported to the Gibson County Jail where they were charged with Possession of Methamphetamines over 5 grams, Possession of Marijuana, and Possession of Paraphernalia.  Mr. Houchins is being held without bond on the FTA warrant, but Ms. Whitehead has a $1250 bond.
 
Assisting Deputy Might in his investigation was Sgt. Loren Barchett, Deputy Shawn Holmes, and Sheriff Bruce Vanoven.
 
All criminal defendants are to be presumed innocent until, and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
