Wilmington Police have arrested a man on gun and drug charges.
Beginning in April, members of the Drug, Organized Crime, and Vice Division have been conducting an investigation into illegal drug sales in the 700 block of West 8th Street. On April 26, at approximately 8:05 a.m., police conducted a motor vehicle stop in the 800 block of West 5th Street, and took 22-year-old Nahceer Lopez into custody without incident. Subsequently, police executed a search warrant in the 700 block of West 8th Street and recovered a loaded .223 rifle, .07 grams of heroin, $272, and drug paraphernalia.
Lopez has been charged with the following offenses in addition to traffic violations:
- Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition by a Person Prohibited – Three Counts
- Possession of a Controlled Substance with the Intent to Deliver
He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 20 and was committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $20,250 cash-only bail.
