Burglary Suspects Apprehended Thanks to Alert Neighbor and Quick Acting Deputies

INCIDENT: PC 459 – Burglary
VC 2800.2(a) – Felony Reckless Evading
LOCATION: 14700 block of Pamlico Road, Apple Valley
SUSPECT(S): Erica Christine Bello, 34-year-old female of Phelan
Skylar Aaron Rutherford, 29-year-old male of Pinon Hills
SUMMARY: On Monday, April 29, 2024, a possible burglary in progress was reported to San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Dispatch. The caller reported their neighbors were out of town and subjects were at the residence loading items into the bed of a pickup.
Deputies from Apple Valley Police Department responded and found the subjects at the residence. Deputies D. Padilla and J. Kabluyen attempted to contact the two subjects, later identified as Erica Bello and Skyler Rutherford, however the two got into the pickup and drove away.
Deputies followed the vehicle which stopped at Apple Valley Road and Ottawa Road. Both subjects were taken into custody without incident and were booked at High Desert Detention Center.
On Tuesday, May 1, 2024, Victorville District Attorney’s office filed felony charges of burglary and evading an officer with willful disregard, against both subjects. Both remain in custody; each being held in lieu of $100,000 bail.
