REMINDER: There will be a scheduled POWER OUTAGE tomorrow, May 2nd at 10pm. The duration of the power outage is expected to last until 7am on Friday May 3rd. Yes, there is rain observed in the forcast. However, the Tonkawa Electric Department crewmen have coordinated and worked diligently with the contractors to make sure the logistics are sound. They have all agreed that the much needed operation can still be successfully completed. It is important to make your preparations, now, if needed. This may include stored food relocation, sleep/sleep device accommodations, oxygen dependency, charging all mobile devices (cell phones, tablets, laptops), use of mobile devices for alarm clocks, manual use of garage doors if needed before the end of the operation, etc. Some citizens have made arrangements to sleep outside of Tonkawa, for the evening, due to their health/living conditions. We plan to send alerts to advise when the power has been successfully restored. The City of Tonkawa does not loan out generators, nor can it provide temporary portable power during this outage. If you plan to use personal portable generators, please use proper safety precautions such as not running a generator in an enclosed space.
