While Deputies Investigate a Collision Between Bicycle and Vehicle a Second Collision Occurs
DATE/TIME: May 1, 2024 / 12:30 a.m.
INCIDENT: Major Injury Traffic Collision
LOCATION: Main Street / I Avenue, Hesperia
SUMMARY: On May 1, 2024, at about 12:30 a.m., deputies responded to the area of Main Street and I Avenue in reference to a traffic collision. During the investigation, it was learned a Chevrolet Avalanche was traveling west on Main Street and a bicycle rider was traveling north to the south roadway, along Main Street. The driver of the Chevrolet struck the bicycle rider, who was not in a crosswalk. The bicycle rider sustained major injuries and was taken to a trauma center for treatment. All parties stayed on scene until law enforcement and fire personnel arrived.
During the investigation of the above collision, a distracted driver in a Toyota Camry collided into the Chevrolet while the driver was retrieving items from the vehicle. The driver sustained minor injuries and was taken to the hospital for treatment. The driver and passenger of the Toyota also sustained minor injuries and were taken to a hospital for treatment.
