High Winds Cause Power Outages
Some parts of town have experienced power outages. These have nothing to do with the scheduled outage, this evening. These power outages are due to high winds in our area. Our area is under a Strong Wind Advisory until 7am, today. Wind gusts of 45-55 mph can be expected. If you have been affected by loss of power, please contact the Tonkawa Police Department Non-Emergency line (580-628-2516) to report your location and they can dispatch Electric Department crews to your area. If you observe downed power lines or utility polls, stay clear of the area and do not attempt to move or touch them, yourself. A downed power line would be considered an emergency and you should dial 911. Emergency services are still available and working (Police, Fire, Ambulance, E911). For non-emergency issues, or to report a power outage, contact the Tonkawa Police Department: (580) 628-2516. For Emergencies (ONLY) or to report down power lines or utility polls: 911. Tonkawa Utility Crews have been dispatched and are working to resolve the issues, as fast as they can.
