Newark Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé announces that the following streets will be closed during the below designated hours due to the City of Newark’s Drive Up and Go Food Distribution event:
 
Beginning from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. – Wednesday, May 8, 2024
 
- South Orange Avenue between Sanford Avenue and Stuyvesant Avenue
- Salem Street between South Orange Avenue and Rockland Terrace
- Halstead Street between Norwood Street and Norwood Place
- Telford Street between South Orange Avenue and Rockland Terrace
- Smith Street between Norwood Place and Rockland Terrace 
 
The food drive begins at 11 a.m. and will be held at South Orange Avenue and Salem Street.
 
Drivers are advised to anticipate delays and to plan alternate routes.
 
Director Fragé thanks you in advance for your patience and cooperation during this event. He also urges anyone with information regarding any criminal activity to call the Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477).  All anonymous Crime Stopper tips are kept confidential and could result in a reward.
