Occupied Residential Burglary-Sylvester Street 
On May 3, 2024 at approximately 1:45am the Cranford Police Department was dispatched to a Sylvester Street residence for a report of a burglary in progress. As patrol units were arriving, they observed the homeowners BMW exiting the driveway. A motor vehicle pursuit ensued and was eventually terminated on the Garden State Parkway due to excessive speeds.
It was later determined that the actors utilized a crowbar to enter a first-floor window, where they located the key fob to the vehicle.
The Cranford Police Department and other surrounding police agencies within Union County has seen an uptick in BMW's being targeted by vehicle thieves. Please continue to remove keyfobs from your vehicles when they are parked. Also, check that your security cameras are operational.
