INCIDENT TYPE: Motorcycle vs Motor Vehicle Fatal Collision

DETAILS: On May 2, 2024, at approximately 9:28 pm, Officers were dispatched to a major crash involving a motorcycle and a motor vehicle at Soncy Rd and Bent Tree Dr. Upon their arrival they found a 2006 Kawaski Motorcycle was Northbound on Soncy at a high rate of speed driven by Mikeal Donovan Fierro, male, age 19. A GMC SUV had been driving from southbound on Soncy to turning eastbound into the south alley of Bent Tree. The Motorcycle struck the SUV and Fierro died on scene from injuries sustained in the crash. Justice of the Peace Flores ordered an autopsy of Fierro. Speed is a factor in this crash. The incident is being investigated by the Traffic Investigation Squad of the Amarillo Police Department.
