Deputies Respond to a Suspicious Vehicle Call and Arrest the Driver for Felony Evading

LOCATION: Pauhaska Road and Tenaya Road, Apple Valley
SUSPECT(S): Maurice Bowman, 27-year-old male of Victorville
SUMMARY:
On Wednesday, May 1, 2024, deputies responded to a call of a suspicious vehicle in the 22000 block of Itasca Road. The caller said a vehicle had been parked on the street with the engine running overnight.
Deputies from Apple Valley Police Department were dispatched to check the vehicle. Deputies D. McCarter and D. Ramires arrived at the location and contacted the occupant, Maurice Bowman.
Bowman was asked to exit his vehicle and speak with deputies, however he instead sped away from the location. Deputies pursued Bowman for nine minutes, at times reaching speeds of over 100 mph. Bowman traveled through Apple Valley and into Hesperia where his vehicle crashed near Rock Springs and Glendale Roads and Bowman was arrested without further incident.
Prior to being booked into West Valley Detention Center, Bowman was checked by medical personnel. Bowman was found to have a felony warrant out of Riverside County as well. Bowman subsequently posted bail for both his felony warrant and these charges and was released.
