The city of Oakland continues to experience violent and dangerous illegal sideshows in our community. In past years, this illegal behavior has disrupted Cinco de Mayo celebrations.
To address this illegal behavior, OPD will deploy dedicated officers this weekend to deter and enforce illegal sideshow activity.
During the 2022 and 2023 Cinco de Mayo celebrations, OPD towed 150 vehicles, issued nearly 80 citations, and made several arrests at illegal sideshows.
We encourage our residents and visitors to enjoy our wonderful city during Cinco de Mayo. However, please be responsible and respectful of others.
