Fire Weather Watch until 10:00PM Monday

...RED FLAG WARNING SUNDAY FROM NOON UNTIL 10 PM ALONG AND WEST OF THE CENTRAL MOUNTAIN CHAIN DUE TO STRONG WIND AND LOW HUMIDITY... ...FIRE WEATHER WATCH SUNDAY FROM NOON UNTIL 10 PM FOR THE NORTHEAST HIGHLANDS DUE TO STRONG WIND AND LOW HUMIDITY... ...FIRE WEATHER WATCH MONDAY FROM 11 AM UNTIL 10 PM ALONG AND EAST OF THE NORTH CENTRAL MOUNTAINS AND MIDDLE RIO GRANDE VALLEY, AND FROM 3 PM UNTIL 10 PM FOR AREAS FARTHER WEST, DUE TO STRONG WIND AND LOW HUMIDITY... .A weather pattern conducive for large fire growth will develop Sunday through Wednesday as a broad trough develops over the western United States keeping the flow over New Mexico dry and windy. The strongest winds and critically low humidities Sunday will favor the central mountain chain and northeast highlands westward. Then, humidities will plummet over eastern areas as well on Monday. Winds will strengthen over central and eastern areas late Monday morning, but not until mid afternoon farther west. The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued a Fire Weather Watch...which is in effect from Monday morning through Monday evening.

* AREA AND TIMING...The northern and central mountains (Zones 120, 122, and 124) below snowpack, and the Rio Grande Valley (Zones 121 and 106) on Sunday from noon until 10 PM MDT, and from 11 AM until 10 PM on Monday.

* 20 FOOT WINDS...On Sunday, south and southwest 20 to 35 mph with gusts up to 50 mph. On Monday, west 20 to 35 mph with gusts up to 50 mph.

* RELATIVE HUMIDITY...7-20 percent.

* IMPACTS...Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly and will be hard to control. Long range spotting and extreme fire behavior will be possible. Outdoor burning should not be done.

* AFFECTED AREAS: MIDDLE RIO GRANDE VALLEY ... NORTH CENTRAL MOUNTAINS ... UPPER RIO GRANDE VALLEY AND LOWER CHAMA RIVER VALLEY ... SANGRE DE CRISTO MOUNTAINS ... SANDIA AND MANZANO MOUNTAINS
