Riverside Man Arrested for DUI After Striking a Pedestrian with His Vehicle Saturday Evening

LOCATION: Foothill Boulevard and Lion Street, Rancho Cucamonga
SUSPECT(S): Ricardo Aguilar, 33-year-old resident of Riverside
VICTIM(S): 66-year-old male, resident of Rancho Cucamonga
SUMMARY: On Saturday, May 4, 2024, at about 7:16 p.m., Rancho Cucamonga deputies responded to a reported vehicle versus pedestrian traffic collision near the intersection of Foothill Boulevard and Lion Street in Rancho Cucamonga. Deputies discovered the victim was struck by a 2015 Nissan Rogue. The Rancho Cucamonga Major Accident Investigation Team (M.A.I.T.) responded and assumed the investigation.
During the investigation, deputies determined the Nissan traveled east on Foothill Boulevard, veered off the roadway, and collided with a victim. The driver of the Nissan was suspected of being under the influence of alcohol and was booked into the West Valley Detention Center for violation of California Vehicle Code 23153(b) – Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol. The victim was transported to an area hospital with major injuries and remains in critical but stable condition.
